Terms for assistants and apps that use the hotspot.guide

Last updated Oct. 30, 2026.

These terms cover the server at mcp.thehotspot.guide. It lets an AI assistant, or an app someone built, ask the hotspot.guide what's open, what's on, and what a place has on its menu. If you're a person reading this because an assistant sent you here, the short version is below.

The short version

  • The server is free and open. You don't need an account.
  • Use it to answer a person's question. Don't use it to build your own list of places.
  • When you show an answer, link to the page it came from.
  • We can slow you down or block you, and we do.
  • The data changes all day. Check the page when it matters.

Who can use it

Anyone. Assistants, apps, and developers testing a connection are all welcome. You have to follow these terms to use it. If you use it for a company, you're agreeing for that company.

What you can do

  • Answer a person's question with what the server returns, in your own words or ours.
  • Quote a short piece of an answer, such as one place's hours.
  • Keep an answer for as long as the conversation it belongs to, so you can follow up.

What you can't do

  • No reselling or relicensing. Don't sell the answers, charge for access to them, or hand them to someone else under terms of your own. Charging for your product is fine when the answers are a small part of what it does and you aren't charging for the answers themselves.
  • No bulk copying. Don't use the server to collect places, hours, menus, events, or anything else into your own database, index, or training set. That includes many small calls that add up to a whole city. Tools return a handful of results at a time on purpose.
  • No training. Don't use answers to train or fine-tune a model.
  • No passing off. Don't say we endorse you, and don't present our words as yours.
  • No dodging limits. Don't spread calls over many addresses or names to get around a rate limit or a block.

Link back

When you show an answer, show where it came from and link to the page, with the address the server gave you. Every answer includes it. People deserve to see the real page, and the owner's page is the one place that's always current.

Credit

Some of what the hotspot.guide knows comes from open sources that ask for a credit. Our credits are on thehotspot.guide/legal/credits/. Link to that page where you show an answer if you can.

Our words and your use of them

The descriptions, guides, and short lines we write are ours. Facts, like the time a place opens, belong to no one, and nothing here says otherwise. What these terms govern is how you use this server and what you do with the collection of answers it gives. Menus, photos, and event details come from the places and people who post them, and you can show them with an answer but can't take them elsewhere.

Limits and blocking

We rate limit the server, and we set a daily allowance for each caller. We can slow you down, answer only from cache, or block you, with or without warning, if you break these terms or the server starts to cost us more than it's worth. We might block a whole network if one caller on it is the problem. A blocked caller gets a short message that points here.

If you think we blocked you by mistake, write to us through our contact page and say who you are and what you were doing.

What we log

We log each call: the network address it came from, the name your software gave when it connected, which tool it called and with what, and how big the answer was. We use that to keep the server running, to count usage, and to spot misuse. We don't know who the person on the other end of an assistant is, and we don't ask. More is in our privacy policy.

No warranty

The server and its answers come as they are. Places change their hours without telling anyone. A place can close, move, or run out of something. We try to keep the guide right and we don't promise it is, or that the server will be up when you call it. Don't use an answer where a wrong one could hurt someone, and tell people to check with the place when it matters.

To the extent the law lets us, we aren't liable for what happens because you used an answer, and our total liability to you for the server is zero dollars, since it's free.

Changes

We can change the server, its tools, and these terms whenever we need to, and we can shut it off. The date at the top says when the terms last changed. Using the server after a change means you accept the new terms.

Other terms

The terms and conditions cover the website and apps, and they bar automated access to the website. This server is the way we offer automated access, and these terms govern it. If the two disagree about the server, these win.

New York law governs these terms.
